These last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind in all the best ways. We ended September with a wedding just outside of London in a town called Canterbury, and were able to tack on a few extra days at ten end of the trip in Paris. It’s so devastating to see what has just happened in Paris recently, I am thankful I am able to look back on my time spent there and reflect on what a beautiful city it really is.
We started our trip flying into London and stayed at the Z Hotel in Soho, a super cute hotel that has compact but well thought out rooms, making it perfect for the traveler who wants a bit of luxury but plans to be out and about in Central London also. A fun perk of the hotel, is the trendy lounge offering complimentary wine and cheese at night. It was such a wonderfully centered location and made getting around the city that much easier.
A friend had suggested making a dinner reservation at Hutong in the Shard Hotel which we had done a month in advance. We made it for four, and our friends who were getting married in Canterbury joined in. My husband and I went early to enjoy a drink at the bar which makes incredible cocktails. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are passing through London at any point. It is a beautiful upscale Asian restaurant overlooking all of London with floor to ceiling windows with incredible views. Dinner was delicious, and we managed to work some of it off by dancing a bit at a nearby pub that had a fun band. All in all a fantastic night.
This one is a bit of a throwback, but being in the thick of Fall, this gem of a spot should be shared for a weekend getaway idea. If you haven’t heard of this beautiful spot on Lake George, you should really check it out. It’s about a four hour drive from New York City and the perfect escape no matter the season. We were gifted a two night stay here by family friends as a wedding gift. It was an extremely generous and thoughtful gift. They had even booked us a weekend in advance ( right around the beginning of Sept.) for the ultimate viewing of fall foliage. The Sagamore was above and beyond what I had expected it to be. Arriving, you feel like royalty as you roll over the bridge which then ushers you through a sweeping driveway only to bring you in front of a beautiful mansion. The experience was amazing from the initial arrival and awaiting bottle of champagne, delicious dinners, sitting in Adirondack chairs soaking in some rays with a glass of wine overlooking unparalleled views of Lake George, a random Bavarian Festival, galavanting through town only to end it in a wine tasting. It’s also a great place to bring kids, there were lots of families. One of my favorite moments of the trip was an early morning hike we took in the woods along the river.. The sun was shining, leaves crunching under my feet and the husband was beside me, it couldn’t get better than this I thought. But then it did because we went shopping at the outlets on the way back home. 😉 Check out some of the scenes from the trip and recommended spots to enjoy!
