Gym + Hair Treatment

Are you about to head to the gym or out for a run?

Next time you are, give your hair a conditioning treatment too! Applying coconut oil prior to your workout is a great remedy to fight the loss of moisture in the hair and battle static. The heat from your scalp will allow the treatment to really absorb into your hair as your on the move.

Hydrate those strands while you workout. Here’s how:

  1. *Apply Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, just off the scalp, from the mid-length’s through the ends of the hair
  2. Comb the oil through the hair
  3. Gather your hair as if making a ponytail, but instead twist the hair into a bun
  4. Secure the bun with a damage-free hair elastic

* If the coconut oil is hard to apply, soften it first by warming it up in the microwave for about 15 seconds or on the stove top. Taking precaution that it is not too hot to burn your skin or hair.

Strawberry & Jalapeño-Lime ‘Rita’s

This refreshing margarita is a new favorite of mine. I came up with it one day when the husband and I were in the mood for a spicy margarita.. And low and behold I had a box of strawberries that needed a little loving..

Ingredients

  • Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila
  • 2 ounces of Orange Liqour
  • Splash of  *Simple Syrup
  • 10 Strawberries
  • 1 lime
  • 1/4 of a Jalapeño
  • Coarse Salt

* Simple Syrup

  • 1C Sugar in the Raw
  • 1C Water

*In a medium saucepan combine water and sugar, bring to a boil while continuesly stirring. Once sugar is fully dissolved, remove from heat and let the mixture cool. I like to keep a bottle in the fridge to have for a quick cocktail or iced coffee. It keeps for about a month.

Slice your jalapeño and in a separate glass pour enough tequila for two drinks.. about 4 ounces. Put the jalapeño into the glass with tequila and set aside so it can soak while you prepare everything else. Cut up your strawberries, keeping to whole ones aside as garnish and put the rest into a cocktail shaker. Using a muddler or a big spoon, muddle up the strawberries. Cut a lime in half, saving two slices for garnish and squeeze the remainder into the shaker. Add in a good squirt of simple syrup, the Orange Liquor, and toss the jalapeño-tequila mixture in. Prepare two glasses with a bit of lime juice on the rim then twirled in the salt. If your feeling really spicy….add some cayenne pepper into the salt first. Fill the glass with ice, give the cocktail shaker some good shakes and pour over the ice. Garnish with a strawberry and a big slice of lime. Enjoy!

    DIY Lip Scrub

With winter behind us, refresh those lips for spring and let your bright lip colors shine, by prepping your lips with an at home lip scrub. My go to scrub is a combination of brown sugar and honey. The brown sugar sloughs off any dead skin while the honey helps to moisturize. While you don’t want to overuse it, doing this mask once a week will keep your lips in shape. For your own gorgeous pout- follow the steps below:

Mix about a teaspoon each of brown sugar and honey to form a gritty paste. Apply with your finger onto dry lips and massage in circular motions for about 1 minute. Using a warm washcloth remove the mask from lips and follow with your favorite lip balm or like I did, coconut oil.
